After Surgery

After Surgery

Recovery Room

You will remain in recovery until you are medically stable to go home. Once stable in the Recovery Room, a family member or friend may be with you and assist during the recovery and discharge process.

After Surgery

You may experience drowsiness from anesthesia for several hours after surgery. Therefore, someone must be available to drive you home. Depending on the type of surgery, you may also require help during the first 24 hours while you recuperate. Your doctor will give you specific instructions about your recovery, and we will review them with you and your family members before you leave Culpeper Surgery Center. Please follow your doctor’s specific post-operative instructions for your surgery. You may eat as desired. Recommendations for first meal are soup and crackers, Jello, popsicles, water and juice. Avoid greasy and spicy foods. Call your doctor for nausea, vomiting, generally feeling bad, severe pain or inability to urinate. You also may be asked to complete a satisfaction survey. This is voluntary, and we welcome your feedback.

A surgery center staff member will call you the day after your surgery to make sure there are no problems, and to answer your questions. Once again, your comments and feedback are welcome.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have 540-829-0700. Thank you once again for choosing the Culpeper Surgery Center.
